Katherine Grainger becomes UK’s most decorated female Olympian

first_imgKatherine Grainger has become Great Britain’s most decorated female Olympian after claiming silver in the women’s double sculls final.The 40-year-old finished second with partner Vicky Thornley behind the Polish pair after a strong final 500m in a thrilling race in Brazil.The result means Grainger has won medals at five successive games, taking her total to one gold and four silvers.Grainger had considered walking away from the sport before performing a U-turn and the pair only reached Rio when spots became available after failing to make the initial cut.
