Position Number590080 In partnership with VCU Health and School of Medicine leadershipand under the Assistant Vice President for Medicine and HealthDevelopment, the Senior Director of Development for Medicine Alumniand the Department of Internal Medicine will provide leadership andfundraising strategy and oversee major and principal gift activityfor all of the school’s alumni populations and for the Departmentof Internal Medicine ( DOIM ). The position will lead major giftofficers in the Medicine Alumni pod and will personally cultivateand solicit principal and major gifts and in support of theschool’s alumni fundraising priorities and those of the Departmentof Internal Medicine. The position may also support relatedfundraising priorities connected to the VCU and VCU Health’stripartite mission of research, education, clinical care/physicalenvironment.The position will work with the medical school’s alumni population,trainees of Internal Medicine, as well as patients and families whomake gifts in gratitude for the care they received at VCU Health.In compliance with the Health Insurance Portability andAccountability Act ( HIPAA ), the incumbent will partner withphysicians and clinical faculty of the DOIM in to identifyprospective patient donors and to create appropriate fundraisingstrategies. This position builds relationships with colleagues inthe SOM, VCU Health and across the university to carry out theresponsibilities of the role and serves on the assistant vicepresident’s leadership team, serving the philanthropic prioritiesof both VCU Health and the VCU School of Medicine.The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to lead teamsas well as to plan, execute, secure and steward major gifts. Astrong orientation to collaboration is required along with anenthusiasm for maintaining relationships with faculty and clinicalcare teams and an empathy for individuals impacted by healthexperiences. A background in academic medicine, higher education orhealth care is preferred but not required for the candidate whoenjoys new challenges and is eager to pursue a role in health carephilanthropy.
