He/she is the College’s Chief Student AffairsOffice and reports directly to the President. He/she has overallresponsibility for the day to day operations of the area and may becalled upon to represent the President at key community gatherings,on external committees, with significant partnerships and/or inhis/her absence. The Vice President has broad and comprehensiveresponsibilities for the success of students in achieving theirgoals in collaboration with the Executive Vice President andProvost for Teaching, Learning, and Student Success and othermembers of the senior administration and college community. TheVice President directs the services necessary to support studentsuccess in and out of the classroom. He/she is expected to beknowledgeable of theories and best practices that support variousstudent populations and assist in meeting the College’s strategicplan, Envision Success.The Vice President for Student Affairs is responsible for thefiscal management of Student Affairs and advocates for students’rights and responsibilities. He/she is expected to provide theadministrative leadership necessary to achieve a high standard ofexcellence in services for students. He/she fosters collaborationwith the senior administrators, faculty, staff, students, andexternal communities to promote student success through research,use of best practices, evaluation of services, assessment oflearning, continuous improvement, collaborative governance, andstrategies to include the College’s participation in Achieving theDream and the American Association of Community College’s PathwaysProject.He/she provides leadership in service delivery at the Largo Campusand the degree/extension and workforce training locationsthroughout Prince George’s County to ensure strategic planning,evaluation, and resource allocation to enhance and sustaininnovation, quality, and high levels of student achievement acrossthe College.The function of the office of Vice President for Student Affairs isto manage administrative units, programs, services, and budgets.These operations include but are not limited to: Student EnrollmentServices, inclusive of Recruitment, Admissions and Records,Financial Aid, Student Orientation and Registration ( SOAR ), DualEnrollment, Creating Opportunities for Academic Success andTransfer ( COAST ), Welcome Center, Call Center, and StudentAssessment Services; Student Success and Engagement, inclusive ofPersonal Counseling, Student Support Services, Disability Supportand Vocational Support Services, TRIO programs, Veterans’ Services,Diverse Male Student Initiative, Women of Wisdom, and College LifeServices (student activities, clubs, and organizations, communityprogramming, and wellness); Intramural and Intercollegiateathletics programming, and Academic and Career Advising.Responsibilities include co-leadership with institutionalpriorities, including Pathways and Achieving the Dream.
