Seychelles reported more than 13,000 overnights from India last year, a 15% increase over the previous year. The tourism board is eyeing on enhancing promotions in the Indian market to showcase Seychelles as a unique quality travel destination. To broaden the horizon of tour operators and enhance the product knowledge, Seychelles Tourism has put aside additional funds to strengthen the Indian market.“Few people in travel trade feel that Seychelles might be a hard destination to sell because of the complexities and high-end positioning. These are mere misconceptions. We are not just meant for the high-end but have ample of affordable accommodation options too. Also, mixing with the warm and friendly locals is something we recommend. They are prolific in cooking delicious food and can acquaint travellers with the local culture and stories. Moreover, post feedback from the Indian agents, the hotels in Seychelles are now better equipped to cater to the diverse food preferences of the Indian visitors,” said Amia Jovanovic-Desir, Director – India, Korea and Australasia, Seychelles Tourism.Highlighting the USPs, she remarked that island hopping is the USP of Seychelles which differentiates it from its competitors. Also, the destination is beyond the cyclone belt and that has given it an additional edge.Seychelles Tourism has consolidated its core markets and has gone aggressive in the emerging high-potential markets. Gradually it is increasing the budgets for these markets and identifying rich key marketing activities which promise a high return on investment. In 2018, Seychelles Tourism will be organising its annual roadshow slated for September or October, ensuring more sales calls and new FAM trips, thereby penetrating into tier-II and III markets of India.“We hosted FAM trip for bloggers and have generated good return on investment from such initiatives. Likewise, we aim to ensure return on investment for every dollar spent. Seychelles Tourism will also be launching an online training programme this year itself. Nowadays, Indians aim to travel to experience a ‘Wow’ factor and Seychelles is an ideal destination to create unforgettable memories. We will be training agents to create memorable itineraries,” she emphasised.
